Assuming that the area isn't too large, build or retro fit a large barrel as a casson. Sink the casson around the area and shovel inside of it. Sorry about the spelling.

Thanks... The creek is a spring type with about 4-6" constant flow, and the cache is mid CW family bury against looters.

what is mid cw family ? have you considered a small dredge .2 inch would work
