Hi Everyone, just thought I would show you a Caddoan pot I restored. I had never restored pottery before but, a dear friend from Texas sent me this pot in peices. I was concerned with de-valueing it, but this was something I wasn't going to ever part with.
The brim was all there, but only a third of the bulbous part was, also the base was there too, which helped a lot.

Molly. :)

Very nice work molly. What kind of age do you put on that pot? What is the story on it? I mean where and how did you find it and how many pieces was it in? How much time did you spend putting it together and what did you use for adhesive. I am interested.

Great looking pot, and nice photos.

Thankyou for your comments guys, It was sent to me in about maybe 10/12 peices, It's around 800-900 years old. It was found on a Caddoan village site, in Franklin Co, N.E. Texas. Took me a week to restore it I guess, in my spare time, wasn't easy either, but eventually completed it..

Thanx again for your comments..I'll have to post my other restored pottery too.

Molly. :)

wow is all I can say, young lady you are quite gifted for sure. I am glad I am seeing & learning history each time you post :)

Awww Thankyou Bobby & Shawn, your both too kind. I must say I enjoyed it thoroughly. Even my African Grey perched on my shoulder, saying 'WOW' while restoring it. Also my kitten loved the smell of the Pot, but that's anouther story.

Molly. :D

Molly,

Thank you for your answers and please show some more restorations.

800-900 wow--do you know any skillets or pans we have today that we could throw out in the yard and someone could find enough in 800-900 years to put it back together--that is why I like the old ones pottery. :)

It is good to have had enough to reconstruct the pot. The killer for me is to find one roughly inch square piece and nothing else.

Well I have never even found a shard, let alone whole pot, here in NC/VA. This pot comes from Texas.. Thankyou for comments.

Molly :)

Great Job Molly. Beautiful.
