Camped here along the Arkansas east of Salida CO last. 75 in the day and 44 at night! Since I live in the high country, it's rare for me to experience a day like this in March and worth the two hour drive to get there. I saw butterflies and grasshoppers, and new buds on trees. Hiked up to the eagle's nest in the cliff again to see if anybody was home. Apparently eagles do not like you gettin too close to their nest. Got one pic of the eagle soaring in circles in the sky. Next, I heard that chittering sound they make, saw her shadow comin across the ground, and heard a whoosh above my head. Just a warning dive. Sorry no good pics, but I felt it best to remove myself from the vicinity and come up with a different plan for the future.
