Friend is trying to id this. Its iron but there was copper on it too. Found in area where various victorian era items were dug.

It is NOT from a McClellan saddle, but may be from another type.

Possibly the back strap on a western style saddle

I was in the Fruitland Rd & QEW area yesterday, you guys have very little snow on the ground compared to what we have here in Oshawa.
Now this is a nice looking sash buckle find. :thumbsup:

Yeah! That was the find of the day right there. I cant believe were still digging in February

I believe that is a broken cast iron harness buckle, specifically a trace carrier. I have found some close in my books, but I haven't found what I think is a good match yet. I will look through more of my books later.
