Can Anybody ID This Early Toasted British Cavalry Button?

I found this button in the woods last week. It is in real bad condition, but was easier to read until I "cleaned" it. The button has a crown above "GR" in script. Before I cleaned it, I could clearly read CAVALRY along the bottom. There are also words above the crown, but I could not make them out even before cleaning. Finally, I'm almost postive the backmark is BYRNE AND BRENNAN DUBLIN. Any help on this button would be greatly appreciated. I have done several google (and advanced google) searches using different combinations of key words and have come up with nothing.

Nice find, Bill! Do you have any idea if it is Revolutionary era? The only British buttons I found that look like that type are all post Revolutionary.

Buttons like this can be a challenge because there's so many small units. The top word is likely a place name in Ireland. Can you see any letters?

Thanks IP. The only letter I can make out is the first letter, which is an "A" located at about the 10 o'c;lock position.
