Can anybody tell me what kind of knife this bolster is from?

... ... and maybe give an approximate age? It measures 3 inches long by 1/2 of an inch wide, and has no markings of any kind.

It looks pretty similar to the bolster for the Sheffield made Bowie Hunting Knife at the link below. However, I believe that the bolster you found is much older.
