Could be CW era but it could also be older or newer, hard to tell. They were used before then and well into the early 20th century. There may (or may not) be a mark on it somewhere, though you may need a loupe to find it or it could be rust covered.

I think that this is a mid-century item. I have found ferrules like that at c.1840-60s sites before. Haven't seen such handle ferrules at early 1800s/colonial sites before.

Could you put the dimensions, because it also looks like a carving fork. I know it probably isn't, but the size will help the experts on here, thanks :icon_thumleft:. BuckleBoy being one of them :laughing7:. I added when we posted at the same time ;D

Just a guess from a bit research online, but it looks like early 20th century from the handle and the fork prongs. Maybe late 19th century at a push :dontknow:. Really nice find though :icon_thumleft:.

got this 3 pronged fork and Ive heard that many are from the cw era. is this true and is this fork that old?
My feeling it might be around the 1880s period. The earlier forks were thinner, I might be wrong, I hope this helps. Brian C.
