I dug this button today at a site that has turned up a few colonial things but most items from it are from the 1800s. I can't make out what the image on the front is. There is no back mark. It's a two piece button made of brass. It's about the size of a half dollar maybe a little smaller. This button looks really interesting to me and I would love to know what it is.
 

It seems to be a Victorian picture button, similar to this one:
