Part of a musical instrument...maybe an accordian?

I think someone told me once they were part of a piano ????

Based on past posts which were given ID's with supporting evidence, it appears to be be an organ reed, or a closely related instrument. It's still beyond me why these turn up in fields, rather than dumps. Dang musical litterbugs. Although I'm simply regurgitating what has been posted before (thusly deserving little credit), 2/3 of the way down this page you'll see what they originally looked like. http://www.musical-museum.org/teachersframe.htm

Hi nhbenz,

Bingo!.....That's it....I went to that link....Thats the exact thing. Even though it doesn't
have anything to do with a civil war carbine gun sight I am relieved that I now know
what it is..Thanks Again!

Way to Go Benny!

Yes I found two of those last year here in Fredericksburg Va. I did some research, and they were reeds for a small type of musical instrument, organ. You are missing the brass piece that attaches to the rivet at its base.
Not sure if it was a wind instrument or key? Hope this helps
