dug this hammer and lock plate up a while back, been sitting on the shelf for 2yrs now. just curious.

I would definitely say it's from a musket as to age maybe some of the relic crowd can chime in.

Pretty far gone for a positive ID. Probably couldn't even tell if it's for rifle or pistol unless it's exceptionally small.

I went with the '42 because of the matching locations of the forward retention pins
