Can I call this button colonial?

This was my only find at an old saw mill site in my first hunt there. It is pewter and penny sized. No back mark. It seems old and crude. Does it qualify as colonial?

It sure looks colonial to me. Or at least very close to it.

Here's a modern reproduction one cast from an original on a website that supplies reenactors. Pretty close!
