🔎 UNIDENTIFIED From a shipwreck

I found this at a shipwreck site. For deducing what it could be, the wreck is probably from the 1600's. It is offshore, and from time to time I search the beach (searching in the water is not legal nor permitted by anyone at this time) and this time around (first time in about 5 years. ANd it is private land on the beach, so no one else has been there in the past five years. Including a few hurricanes that went through) I found some pewter, a 3 foot deck spike, some random iron, and this. This thing is iron. It is about 10 inches round, perfectly round, and about 1 inch think. Pretty heavy. I have not soaked it yet to get it back to the iron and get some of the gunk off, but I'm perplexed as to what it might be on a ship from that old of a period. Any ideas

I'm not an expert in anything. The only thing made of cast iron in that shape that comes to my mind , is a burner cover on an old cook stove. I have no idea if a ships stove even had those covers. The covers had a small depression where a handle locked into to remove the cover when you place a pot over the open hole.

That's a candidate for electrolysis ... if you have an auto battery charger, this is easy to set up (outside) at home ... takes a while, sometimes months, but is easily done. you can pm me if you can't find any how-to-do videos or instructions.
