I found this at an early 1700s cellar hole.

It's a little bigger than the 1923 half penny I have and it's a lot smaller than a Brittish "one penny" that I have. My guess would be a half penny but it also looks a little like a CT copper.

Can you ID it for me and/or give me an idea on the date?

Looks like my 1740 half pence. I think it is a king George II but let's let "ironpatch" make the call...

George III halfpenny, real or counterfeit. Counterfeit were actually more common than the real ones in the early days!

Hi Sean,
Right facing busts could be GIII, GI, or William III,
GIIs & Charles are left facing.
The ID is in the details, a pencil rubbing or talcum powder might reveal
some of the legend.
it could be a William III or GI or III :dontknow:
The Mail on shoulder looks like a William III HP that I found.
Browse other sites for more pix, here's a few..

No, I can't date it, it's much too old for my taste. I prefer them to be close to my own age. :laughing7:
