I don't know, I'll look at it again when the swelling in both eyes goes down. I went to my wife and said "didn't you have buttons like that when you were young" big mistake.

Sorry to have to say, it's definitely not pewter, it is a badly corroded modern cast 1-piece cheap "potmetal" Fashion button, which apparently had a swirly floral design on the lined field on its front.

Hey TheCannonballGuy, that perfectly OK. I am just trying to find out what it is. I appreciate your help in this. And I know you know your stuff. For future reference how do I tell if a button or anything else is pewter. I am no metal expert by any means. Thanks!
