Yes, my name is Steven Correa. I have in my possession an older, i
believe to be a candle holder. Very heavy, approx. 1 ft tall. Can be
taken apart into 3 pieces----sorry, 4 pieces-----. A bottom stand, middle portion 3 cherubs, and
then a longer piece thats slides into the middle. It is gold in color
but has never tarnished. I cannot find any information about this piece
and was wondering if you know if worth anything, or if
you would just be willing to look at this item and maybe give me a clue
as to where to find information about its history. I remember playing with this when i was a kid at my grandmother's house. Then somehow my parents ended up with it and now i have it. I was told it was found inside an old house. Ive been told it looks like an old church piece

Great closeup SWR, but if that is electrical wire, why does it appear to circle the entire piece on which it is found? Not trying to be argumentative, just trying to understand.

Sorry...i missed your question earlier...

Appears (at least to me) there are three (3) light bulb sockets. That could explain the white (porcelain) in the center, as well. The cloth covered wire would have to go around to all three (3) sockets.
YIKES!!!! What white porcelain? All I see on those 3 areas are flash reflections.

I am so pleased to see a few comments from stecordbz! ;D Welcome back! ;D

I have a few questions for you about this item if you do not mind . .

*what material do you think/feel it is made of?
*did any family members give you anymore clues to the item?
*you said you played with this as a child . . just curious ??? . . but how the hey hiddy hey did you play with it? ;D
*have you brought it to anyone to look at? antique dealer? church? funeral palor? etc?

I look forward to your answers, maybe that will help shed some more light on the item!

I think you are right, Steve in Michigan, the plant does look like cattails ;D !!
But what could the plants across the cherub/putti lap be?

Seeing as I am trying to learn as I go I have a question for everyone:

What is the difference between. . . gold leaf. . gilted gold. . gilded . . .? How can you tell the difference?

Thank You I appreciate it! ;D

hey bogey.....well i think its made of brass, but definitely seems to be covered in gold, since it wont tarnish. Its been sitting on my shelf for years....I'm 28 now and when i was a kid, at my grandmothers probably close to 4yrs old, i would take the pieces apart and try to put it back, thats about all i remember....but since my grandmother passed away a few years ago, i keep it in memory of her. I'm supposed to take it to a local antique dealer. I sent them the pictures, but they couldn't tell anything. And i was told to take it in on a day when the owner is in. Just have to schedule that out, with work and everything, but maybe someone here after looking at it may have a good idea on what it is!

ran across this while searching for something alse and thought it had a few simularities to your piece.
It obviously isnt a match but possibly made by the same company/person??

listed as:

" Exceptional pair of 19th c. 10-branch bronze candelabrum with gilt bobaches, all supported by bronze Putti on stepped marble bases, 33" h." with a asking price of $4,000.00.

scroll down to item #46
