I found two of these in an old RR Camp a few years back. I have never seen anything anywhere about these. A guy told me that I could have the only ones. Both have the backs ripped open so I am assuming they are cane heads. The have a picture of President and Vice president <Harrison and ?>
and it also has the date of 1888. I hope you can help with these .. Thanks Jim

Awesome find- almost certainly a campaign-related item of some sort. (They won the 1888 election, I believe).

I dunno exactly what you have there, especially without a picture of the backs, but "cane heads" sounds like a reasonable guess to me.

One of Theodore L. Hake's books on political collectibles prices this item at $490. (That was in 1998.) There is another version with the names of the candidates, Harrison and Reid, instead of "Republican" and 1888.

Does this book show them as cane heads?

Cool finds Hunter!

This item is not described or classified in Hake's book. There is simply a photograph, ID #, and price (updated in later price guide supplements).

You could ask Mr. Hake about it:

What a nice piece of history :) Seems all the campaign or political items are high value to collectors.
