Cannonball? Need ID if possible.

I used USED motor oil....it took several months to finally get to the ball the crusty was so large....almost half again as big and gnarly.....
I think next time/if ever/ I will waste a can of WD40 or PAM...etc

Sounds good buddy [emoji1360]

I live just a few miles from the park.
It never ceases to amaze me how much stuff is still in the ground when we get to do our digs.
Even more shocking is that virtually none of what we dig ever gets put on display.
A friend of mine’s grand grand pappi fought at pea ridge during the war. He remembered as a kid seeing cannon used as fence posts on the family farm, don’t know how accurate or true that story was, but it always intrigued me.

The old guy never said that it had been cleaned. I was just assuming. I'll get back with him and get all the precise info to put on here again.

Oh, You're on My list now Lairmo!!

Yes we get to dig our own stuff, and take pics with it if we want, then we bag it and flag it so the archie's can record it on their GPS and collect it

So true! I've worked with the archaeologists: Bad, Flag and Tag. I now have their confidence to Tag finds do to my experience. :icon_thumleft:
