I have been gleaning a few old parks looking for some gold. Two of the parks have clay under the sod so most targets dont sink deep. Been working one dirt parking area inch by inch. I forget my pain as I dig coins till I drop. At full power I am getting almost a full lesche digger in depth. Dug a lot of pennys, but looking for that silver as the pennys were early 60's. I only dug good signals above 60, and coin signals. Cant explain it but the machine in pro mode makes a sound when over a coin. Its a double hi tone beep. Now there is a lot of trash, and I pulled as much trash as I did coins it seemed. Not sure how the tops of old beer cans got that deep. The 5x8 coil just eats those trashy areas. I really had a lot of fun. I cant wait to get the F75 over the area and go deep. I do have some sort of door hanger and trying to date it.

Awesome hunt! Can you explain about the ring a little bit? Also if you are seeking that beautiful gold but are only digging nice signals above 60, I am afraid you are going to pass up ALOT of gold. All of my gold chimes in the 45-60ish range.

IHPs ring in at 57 on the F75. You are missing all the IHPs by not digging items ringing in below 60. You are also overlooking nickles of all kinds, and as well you are missing gold items. Looks like you still found a lot of targets to dig.

Hello Casca,

Looks like you are have a great time, keep going the gold will come!

Just one thing to add; I have found gold with the AT Pro with numbers from 38/9 (thin wedding band) to 60+. The key is to dig all repeatable mid-tones, but be warned a lot of trash "lives" in the gold region.

Best Regards,

Doc

Your door hanger is actually a shower curtain hook notice the orientation of the leaf.images.webpnot the same design as yours but shows how it would hang. Also agree you need to dig the lower numbers all my gold jewelry has been in the 40 to mid 50s range.

Hey Casca,
Nice to see that you are enjoying the AT PRO.
As has been said,, 40 to 65 is the GOLD NUMBER RANGE.
IHP'S will come in around 78. The deeper the target, the better your odds that it isn't a Zincoln.

Nice hunt but please; DIG those trash signals. That's where the gold lies and you'll pick up lots of nickels along the way; possibly Buffalo's and V Nicks. You may have swung over gold and left it behind if you passed everything under 60. You need to go back there.

Those who dig more trash dig more gold. I learned that the hard way. I'm sure I passed over gold early on.

Also, 10K, and even 14K sometimes can give some really strange readings. It can bounce from the 40's to the 90's depending on what alloys are in it. Flying eagle cents can do the same because they contain nickel and copper.

Congrats on your new toy. I hope it sniffs out lots of treasures for you.

Thank you Back of the Boat for that info. I have been busy and not able to do research like I would like. The ring has a opal setting with a ss band holding it in on silver ring. Never seen anything like that. Today was a slow hard dig as there was lots of targets and the ground was hard. It was full of trash, but I did core a couple of clad coins and a silver pendant. I am enjoying the AT Pro on the older sites that are trashy. I have a few sites to test it out on that I have hit before. The foil range does produce finds. My troubles lie in iffy or weak signals. The almighty pull tab is king if I dig trash but its ok as the wife collects them for some charity drive. The wiggle method is really helping. I have watched the video that came with it and switched to Pro Coin mode. I never hunted with headphones much. But the ATP headphones that came with is very comfortable and I dont notice them even on the hottest of days. Now I hunt in some hot weather. Hit a old rock house ruins with lots of nails, tin, and a trash dump with old cans everywhere. I have replenished my old nail collection. I did get a low tone at the base of a large old cacti that was too large to be trash. Will have to go back to that one some day and dig it out. I still have not took it prospecting or water hunting yet. But Im not worried about getting caught in the rain anymore. It has gotten wet when Im hunting parks at 5am and the sprinklers come on. I dont have to stop and run in between the sprinklers anymore. The spot where the Shower Curtain hanger came from is about 75% done with the AT Pro. I will take the F75 back over the area and see what I can find. I have been down to the clay and think Im going to find some silver there. My buddys with the T2's are cleaning up right now, but the ATP is a really good support detector. I am still learning the AT Pro. Ground Balance is very important and I finally got that down. Now I have the opportunity to compare signals with the T2, so far the ATP is able to detect the deep targets too. Again I need a lot more practice with the deep and iffy signals, digging more foil than I would like. I have went through my first set of battery's in a week. Considering rechargeable but didnt like the way they performed in my F75. I have a virgin field I picked a lot of clad out of I will hit soon. Thanks for everyone input on the numbers.

The sniper coil is fantastic on trashy area's if you want a coil that pinpoints the good targets but if you get a second coil when you change coils you need to set back to factory setting by resetting the machine. The reason for that is the machine won't recognize the coil as it is slightly different or it will work crappy like you have a bad coil or cable.Speaking from experience on this little fact.Love both coils the 5x8 and my sniper they both work fantastic in their given areas of use the sniper is great for up close work around pipes and in tight spots or trashy spots.Haven't had good luck with rechargeable batteries they wear out to quick.
