cant quite figure out prospecting mode on xterra 70 any ideas?

The tone increases with proximity to metal. Try verifying the signal by switching to pattern 1 or 2. That should give you an idea of the type of metal it's tracking.

In areas with a lot of ground noise you'll need to readjust your ground balancing and discrimination. Your X-70 is very sensitive and will drive you nuts with signals if you don't tune it a bit.


Also do you have your sounds setting at four tones or 99 tones? Maybe the four tone setting is better for you. You have a great detector. Enjoy it and Happy Hunting!
 

Thanks i try it prospect mode target sounds are weird there like a sleestak from hell. There not your typical detector sounds will take time to figure out. 8)
 

Don't forget that you can also use the prospect mode to help determine the size of a target. Pass your coil over both an aluminum can and a coin. See how much longer the high pitch lasts over the can?? Now run the coil over a coin. So in theory, long pitch large item. Short pitch is a small item. Good Luck
