Cape Fear River Diving Suggestions for above Wilmington ?

Looking to do something a little different during the cooler months when the snakes and gators are napping. Any suggestions on historical towns on the Cape Fear (or other river in the near area) that may have some interesting artifacts. Have dove around Wilmington for evidence and doing boat work and the current is tough even at slack tide so looking above that area. Old ferry landings, bridges, docks, Indian towns, etc. Don't need to be a walk in area, have a 19ft flat bottom carolina skiff I can put in above or below the area.[/b]

You should try White Lake........crystal clear water and a recreation area since before 1900.........around the ends of the piers should be great for coins and jewelry.........HH Butch in SC.......formerly of Elizabethtown,NC.
