Today I decided to head back to an old toll rd I Found last year. It's a good two mile hike up a mountain so I was hoping it would be worth it. I was detecting around an old huge maple tree where the trail forks. When I dug up a few nails and then this beauty of a 1832 capped bust popped out of the ground. It's a coin I never thought I would find. It's suprising more of these didn't get lost, this coin is tiny. I'd say it was worth the hike up the mountain today. Thanks for looking -Justin

if you're gonna find a half dime it may as well be a capped bust. That's an awesome coin. Congrats! :occasion14:

They really are small, aren't they? Haven't found one but just recently bought one. I was very surprised at how small they are. That is an incredible find. Congrats!

that is a super nice coin. I finally found a worn 1830 example in a western gold camp. these things are tough to find for some of us in the US. Congrats on a nice coin. well worth the trip any day.....

Now that is an awesome looking coin. Congrats

Very tough to find coins that old here in Florida.
I've only found one and it just so happened to Be a half dollar.(1837)
I found it in salt water so it was black as night in inside crust I had to pop off of it.
Real nice find!

Super nice! Probably one of the most beautiful U.S. coin designs. I've been hunting since the mid '80s and have yet to find any capped bust silver. My A-hole brother found an 1830 dime that looked like It had just left the mint. Sorry man, I guess I'm just jealous! Congrats, my day is coming! Hey, I can dream right?:laughing7:

Davers, I have found six (all in Iowa) One half (my avatar), three dimes, and two half-dimes......and like you.........would LOVE to find a quarter!!

Awesome find! Congrats to you RD. I've only dug one capped bust half dime and it was a 1833. You beat me by a year. I agree, with the small size of those coins you would think there would be a lot more lost.
