Captain Ahab Report and Today's Finds
Bad news first. My quest for a bag of Ikes will last another week at least. I went to pick up the bag today (it came on Tuesday instead of Thursday) and the coin service delivered presidential dollars. This was a MAJOR disappointment and the bank felt super bad. The bank manager told me she KNOWS they they have a bag of Ikes because in the process of ordering them for me she spoke to the coin service 3 times. They told her they only had 1 bag of eisenhowers in stock. This is how I know it is real because they would have more than just a box/bag of presidential dollars in stock. Anyways, they vowed to contact the coin service and get the bag for next week, but they will follow up in the next couple of days. Needless to say my hopes are not as high as they were. I could hardly sleep last night thinking about it, and unfortunately they didn't show. I'll keep you posted.
In my misery I started hitting up banks for CWR. Since upping my boxes to 5-6 a week I haven't searched CWR in a while and I headed to some banks I haven't been too before. One bank had a box and $200 in CWR and I bought them all. I went through the CWR in the car and pulled 2 40's.
The box was from the feds and I wasn't too excited about it. In my area I gave up on fed boxes after tons of skunks and never finding a single silver. So I started cruising through the box and without about 10 rolls left I spotted a nice solid silver rim and pulled a 1943-S Walker!!!!!!
This is only my 3rd walker I've ever found (I've found 32 bens, 1 barber, and 40 1964s), but the lady has always eluded me.
I can only assume she was sent to console me in my IKE misery. I picked up a dime box earlier as well and found 1 silver Rose.
I thought this would be all I find for the day, but a small treat awaited me. During my lunch break I went to a mexican takout joint and sitting in the tip dish at the register was a silver penny. I thought it was a steel penny at first and asked for it and they gave it to me. Turns out is was a 2005 penny that didn't get its coat? Probably not worth anything but still cool. Check the pics.
Hopefully the bag of Ikes will show soon...
