Yeah, Santana stole the whole melody from Peter Green who recorded his song "I Loved Another Woman" earlier with the same melody, different words. I never liked that Santana didn't give credit for "Black Magic Woman" to Peter Green who by the way was the original "Fleetwood Mac" band. The full name of the band was "Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac" and they were in England before breaking up and re-organizing without Pete as the Fleetwood Mac with Stevie Nicks. I have the first Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac album which I picked up in London in 1970.

Green did some Amazing Blues Numbers

the song reminds me of a different one, Can't quite Place it at the Moment.

I Don't know what happened to him. I haven't researched him lately.

Yeah, Peter Green was one of the unsung (no pun intended) English blues greats. Only the very into it blues fans knew of him when he was recording. Mike Fleetwood and Christine and John McVie went on to form the new Fleetwood Mac, and when they got Stevie Nicks to join them they made a lot of great songs together and made millions of dollars. But they went to pop rock rather than the great blues of the original band, and Pete sort of faded away. I personally wish the original had stayed together longer, but I am sure there were the usual ego and drug problems that afflicted many groups. When I first saw the first new Feetwood Mac album I jumped on it and although the music was superb I had hoped they would have continued their great blues roots and I was admittedly disappointed.

I had a Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac 8 track many years ago. Don't remember the title otherwise. if it had one. was all blues though . it was why I liked them.

Yeah, George and the Destroyers was a decent band but they were basically just a cover band, I don't think they ever wrote any original material.

Don't forget where Peter Green came from..... He was Eric Clapton's replacement in John Mayall's Bluesbreakers before he went out and formed Fleetwood Mac. Mic was an ex-drummer of the Bluesbreakers also.
Listening to "I loved another woman" I thought I was hearing a John Mayall song!
