Cash Register Find

Well today i decided to look through the pennies in the cash register. Well i found a 1925 S wheat not a bad looking coin i think i will spend a penny on it.

well i have found some one cent coins and nickels and dimes and the occasional quarter. but none worth bragging about.

Haven't found anything recently, but did get a Merc a while back at Starbucks along with a 1912 wheat at McDonalds.

not much have i found from stores recantly, last month i got a 1966 canadian penny from the grocery store.

I've gotten one silver quarter and one silver dime in change (different stores). I've also gotten a few wheats over the years.

Just a couple of weeks ago I had gone to one of those dollar stores that doesn't take credit cards. I pulled out some change to pay the bill and noticed that my only penny was a wheat penny. Of course, I was one penny short on having the change but didn't want to give up the wheat. My wife just rolled her eyes and dug around in her purse until she found a nickel. The cashier was looking at me like I was some sort of idiot. I had a "perfectly good" penny sitting right there in my hand but didn't want to give it to her for some odd reason. Instead, I held up the line and made my wife dig around for spare change. It was embarrassing but I held my ground. Heck, that darn wheat penny is worth at least 3 whole cents!

About 15 minutes ago I bought a Pepsi from the vending machine here at work. I put in a $5 bill and recieved $3.75 in quarters for change. In that change was an Alaska state quarter minted in Denver. I needed it for my Dansco.

even if it was just a '58D I'd have done the same thing - except I'm not married so I might have just had to cancel the sale - at least till I could go to my car for more change.

Btw, the last keeper I got from change was a '50D rosie from a fast food chinese restaurant on 9/29/11. Sort of a nice finish to a good crhing month for me.

my buddy brought me a steel penny from 43' he found at his work and my girlfriend got a job at an underarmor in town so now I'm going to make her look through all the currency that comes in! WIN! I'll definatly update on those finds

Update: I JUST got a 1940 wheat penny in change from Target tonight. I thought that it must be so sort of weird karma given the timeliness of this topic. So I went to the bank and they said they had $120 in CWR halves. I bought them all.... skunko! Oh well. At least I got the wheat penny. My daughter has already claimed it though.

well you do have quite a lucky crhing gf as you've stated in some of your previous posts so she'll probably be bringing home some keepers. Too bad she didn't get a job at a bank - that would have been a major score.

Btw, I got my first red seal ('63) $2 bill today. I stopped at a bank asking for halves, big dollar coins and $2 bills and the teller said another teller had some $230+ in $2 bills so then I told her I was just really interested in bills with the red seals and she said she had just one of those. Unfortunately the bill has a lot of folds and creases so it may not have much value over face but it's still a keeper.

yeahhh i always give her a handful of change before she goes to work so she can snag anything that comes in

pulled a 52wheat from my register today. And a 1946 nickel, what the heck why not eh.
