✅ SOLVED Cast brass, possibly painted.

Another “who knows” from mid 1800s to present house site. It’s cast brass, with what looks to be traces of white paint on the front. Looking at it, I could easily imagine its mirror sitting beside it and forming a square hole. The longer end appears to have been broken, but I believe the shorter end was made that length. I don’t believe door hardware….possibly window?
