This is an odd one for me. I was detecting the lawn around a home built in 1930 (although it is in the very center of town, so I'm sure something stood there before that time.) I pull out a rusted circular piece of iron about 3 inches in diameter which I start to throw in the trash pile. However, it looked like it had some sort of figure on it, so I brought it home and cleaned off as much dirt and rust as I could. To my surprise, it is a pornographic image of a woman with her dress raised and her leg up over a man's shoulder while he appears to have his trousers down and grasping a certain part of his anatomy. The reverse is plain. No writing or any other markings. Can anyone shed any light on this thing? When might have it been made and for what? I think it is funny because I've heard the original owners consisted of an old librarian and her grumpy husband. Looks like there may have been a hidden side to them! The closest I've come is the following link (https://www.jamescumminsbookseller....erotica/circular-silvered-erotic-metal-plaque) which shows the same image, but it is of a different material and the person describing it thought it might be from the 18th century. I can tell you that this town didn't exist in the 18th century. So any comments would be greatly appreciated.
