Hey all: Went to my honey hole this weekend near an old Fort and uncovered some items that have me scratching my head. Any help would be most appreciated. Thanks for looking. HH

The item in the first picture was made by the Frankford Arsenal outside of Philly but I don't know what it is. Maybe a sabre hook?

I would prefer better and smaller pics but starting with the US rosette and going down. The US rosette looks good for civilwar period. Then you have a sword hanger. The coin I don't know about but the item under it is off the handle of a saw. Not civilwar era. But definitely a nice bunch of finds.

I agree, the first item may be a rifle hook, for use with a Rifle with a saddle ring

Photo #4: US Cavalry bridle-rosette, slightly pre-civil-war era.
Photo #1 and photo #6: Brass parts from a US Model-1859 sword-belt, which was designed by famous Confederate cavalry general Jeb Stuart, two years before the start of the civil war, when he was a US Cavalry officer. Check the photos (below) to see where the brass parts were located on the swordbelt. The part in your photo #1 held the belt's scabbard-straps. The hook in your photo #6 held the sword's guard.

Thanks CBG, I knew I had seen the first item somewhere before, hence the sword hanger remark.

WOW guys!! What a great bunch of collective minds we have here at Tnet. Thanks for the great ID's. They are all solved except the leafy-looking piece of brass with acorns on it. I actually found two of those about a half mile apart but the other one was crushed. I was thinking they might have been components of an old lantern but that's just a guess. Also the button-looking item still needs to be identified. It's not a button though. If you look at the "Shank" it looks more like a nail. Thanks again for all the help. :icon_thumleft:

You found some great items. The first item is a Stewart saber hook that made it easy for a cavalryman to remove his sabre without undressing. The item to the right is a very rare M1872 U.S Army dress helmet plume socket base. Unfortunately the plume socket is missing. The next item on the left is a M1881 U.S. Army dress helemt spike/plume base. The item to the right looks like an army rosette for some type of horse tack, possibly a headstall. The rest of the items I do not have any idea what they are.
