Sooo I went out to the beach with the White's DFX and was huntin' around in the sand, found some clad, pull tabs, a nail, and then a Motorola Crazr washed up. Anybody find wet cell phones before? Is there any hope of making it work again? Does anyone have any suggestions for drying it out? And how often do you guys find cell phones... ? Do you try to find the owner? It's a good lookin' phone, and all this was going thru my mind... any suggestions are appreciated!!

I rinsed salt water off of mine and used a hairdryer on cool to dry it off. It worked. Probably just luck. Which you will need.

It is nice to see another metal datectin' babe with the metal datectin' fever. Keep the passion high, Ali!

I think you can forget about the cell phone, a friend has washed two Razrs and had to replace them. HH, Mike

Thanks for the link! The phone is almost dried out, but the screen still has some moisture... I already checked out the memory card (micro SD) on my computer and found some pretty funky pictures... And since it's t-mobile I can put the sim card into my own phone and maybe call the person... but there's a password so I can't even do that... Who knows if it'll ever make it back to it's owner.

Whatever you do DO NOT try and power the phone on while it is still wet. If you let it completely dry out you MAY get it back.

I did use a hair dryer on my own once, so have a couple other people I know. :)

I have found 2 cell phones in my 7 1/2 years of beach hunting. Both were found on the beach. 1 was found on a sunny day about an inch deep. The guy's friend called about 10 minutes after I found it. I told him to let his friend know I had found his phone. I didn't hear back from his friend, so I called him after I was done hunting. He gave me his home phone, so I called and left a message with his sister. I didn't hear back from him. The next morning I did a reverse look up on the internet and found his address. I was in the area during work so I swung by and dropped it off with his father. The other was found on a very rainy day about 6 inches down and it was soaked. I had no luck getting it to work.

Cell phones are plentiful here in So. Cal. - This year I have found 4.

Funky pictures and not posting them? that is a big no no on tnet ;)

I would say it's all washed up~!
;)

i have found a couple but they were always in the dry sand. i guess the best you can hope for is to give it time to thoroughly dry out and then try it . maybe you will get lucky and it will work. i wouldnt look for the owner unless i could get the phone working again. no sense in adding insult to injury if you know what i mean! ;) nice finds by the way.
