got back up to the sites we hit last week.today was button day for me and Gary.he also got a beautiful Nova Constellatio.
i get a merc and zincolns :( a cast iron train car and a broken up colonial shoe buckle

is that domed flying saucer shaped button colonial ???never dug one of these before. :dontknow: :icon_scratch:
a newer old bottle dump not far from site and eyeballed these 2 cobalt blue glass Noxema jars.

Nice finds! Your "blowhole" button is a true "colonial" button. They were in use when the United States were actually colonies of England during the 1750's and 60's. They were used on uniforms during the French and Indian War, although I'm sure they also saw civilian use. It is a hollow, two piece button with blowholes to release the hot gas that resulted when the two pieces were joined. I have found a number of them one French and Indian War sites in Western Pennsylvania.
