As promised, here are some more finds that I have found sifting an old farm cellar pit that was used since pre-revolutionary war days. However, the finds I found apparently span three centuries, given the square nails I found were hand wrought.

First the bottles..from left to right
"Dr. Munn's Elixir of Opium" Circa 1830's, "Hires Household Extract" Circa 1880's and a Sanford Ink Bottle

Here are a few notables..
Stone Marble, note the hand painted lines

Broach/Clip?

Bear/Mountain lion tooth/claw

Bone pipe stem

The rest...

Again, I am only through an 1/8th of a 20 x 18 cellar pit, the more I find, I will post.

From what I gather, the opium bottle is roughly in the $22-25 range, since its a narcotic bottle, they are always collectible. I just took a break from hunting to spend some time with the wifey.....and fishing...
I haven't been fishing since spring!I miss it too, nothing like some fresh fried fish eather. The weather has been nice here for it, but I just haven't gone.I use to do allot of game hunting in the past also, but relic hunting kind of took over that.Hope you guys enjoyed yourselfs!Cool bottle man

The ground setup is wierd, all the root structure is on the surface. So between the roots and the original base soil..anywhere from 6-8 inchs down tops. However there is a downside, all the bottles, plates, cups and fine China is busted. I am lucky to find those three still intact. If I was a patient man with a lot of free time on my hands I could piece together the China and and the gold leaf dishes. Its a shame, since the ambient temps here in the northeast swing so far either way and the rocky soil its not to friendly to glass. I am heading out again at dawn, maybe I can tag a pistol a few coins and bottles..we'll see ..
