Got out for about 30 minutes this afternoon --- braving the 91 degree temperature (usually a lot closer to or over 100 this time of year) to take a few pics. These were my favorites from this afternoon's foray into the park:

Had a popup shower just before I got to the park, but it evidently only got the north side of the block.

This is a lynx spider. He/she really liked this pretty daisy.

Budding rose, fitting as this was the site of the "Rose Inn" up until the late 1970's.

Some of the flowers were falling off the crepe myrtles. There was a pink one next to a magenta (red) one. Put them together on a brick for the contrast between the softness of the flowers and the roughness of the brick.

Confused red wasp was going around to all the cone flowers like he thought he was a honey bee.

Not sure what kind of little fly this was, but he seemed interested in the camera lens once I started taking pics.

Love the spider. Not a big fan of the wasp (personal reasons). Nice pics. Thanks!

I haven't seen a red wasp in ages. I remember those scary looking bugs in Iowa. Can't say any of them caused me any harm though, but for what ever reason they always got it with a rolled up newspaper. I probably should have just left them alone.

Love the "confused wasp" pic! :icon_thumright:

Great pics I'm not liking wasps after being attacked last year lol

Nice pics, Chadeaux! I like the Lynx spider, never seen one. The "confused" wasp, is hunting. A voracious predator, always actively searching for prey to feed it's young. They like small spiders in particular, inject them with zombie juice, to keep them docile, alive, juicy and fresh for the larvae, clip the legs off, and pack the living food packets in the nest with the young.

Was aware that "mud dobbers" did that, but not wasps . . . and that definitely is what we here in Arkansas call a "red wasp" --- and they usually do have a nasty attitude. This one was oblivious to the camera for the most part. Usually if I get within 10 feet they go on the warpath.

That arachnid shot is very COOL.:icon_thumleft:

GOD Bless

Chris

Great pics, Chadeaux! I always love the pics with raindrops on the flowers.

Beautiful photos! Thank you for sharing! :occasion14:
