Temps back in the 40's today, kids and wife out last minute shopping, so last chance for a PA dirt hunt before heading to the beach.
Went back to the chimney in the woods location where I found my first silver, 1891 seated dime in the spring. This location has tons of brush, briars and poison ivy, so I was not been able to hit it over the summer.
Typical finds in PA woods, not sure if any of there casings are old, I assume they are from modern hunters.
Some other items dug up.
Then I got the sweetest hit, bouncing between quarter and half. I have only seen this 3 times, twice were silver Wash quarters once was modern .50 coin, this time a 1876 quarter only about 4" down. This was about 25 ft from where I found the dime and about the same depth, and also behind the home.
Also found an old log splitter.
Here is the quarter cleaned up, my oldest coin ever.
