Well unclemac thats a good theory. It Would explain the construction and alloy, But i think i would find another one like it online. If it was a tourist peice.
Or shouldnt it be signed or say made in mexico.

I still think this might be some primitive homemade project. Casting can be done at home. With just clay mud. And wax. And the natives maked even more intricate peices. This wax goblet would be easier to melt completely out of a clay mold.

It looks like spun pewter

I also go with pewter goblet. Probably 19th century. Look on ebay for similar ones.

the OP says it rings like a bell....can't be pewter

Everytime i look up pewter defenition. It always says old pewter can contain silver.... But where are the examples? Probably right under our noses more often then many of us expect.. Do you think everybody made standard pewter back in the day. Pewter object i think would be made of looted goods. Coins with enemy faces. Salvage metal from fires. Dirty silver. Silver that you dont have the ability to Purify. Could that be called old pewter?
Im not saying the goblet is. But maybe? Why exclude the posibility. Until i see anotherone just like it. Or get it analyzed.. I apreceate all the info, and i realize it may turn out to not be ancient.. But ? Its got the look. So. Either a repro. Or the real deal.. Im still not seeing spun pewter.

It feels light for the size. I didnt think, it had silver or lead. I didnt realize. And am not entirely convinced it is impossible for pewter to ring. Although i have othher peices and i know in general pewter doesnt. Thats why i mentioned it i thought it was peculiar. So maybe it ia alloyed with aluminum or other stuff.
Ill see a real Pewterer eventualy to tell me if it was cast or spun. I figure thats got to be the authority on the subject.

One of my old threads I can clean up.
Using google lens I found some pretty exact matches ,
A mortar. From a mortar and pestle set.
Probably brass plated with something other than silver. Or an alloy as suggested.
Not pewter.
I've been learning
