You mean you finally found it! :laughing7:  Sometimes you just have to trust your instincts.

Who, from Bedford County, actually had direct ties, and interest in, the events at New Orleans, Galveston, and Champ D'Asile?

In previous post I have offered up several names. More then one of them will lead you there. :icon_thumright:

"tat", the Bedford County Geno-Fair is THIS Saturday, Sept. 8th; 9am -3pm. Home or [email protected] if ya have questions. The maps of "lost" Bedford Villages on their website are PRICELESS!

Did you find anything interesting at the fair? Any French related stuff of interest?

Asked around... NOTHING. Got Vols. 2 & 3 of BEDFORD VILLAGES: LOST & FOUND; met briefly with PV's widow... she is fine, selling his books from Hamilton's on "puter"... once sold, GONE! She will NOT republish... get 'em NOW!
Bedford County was there, Campbell County was there, Botetourt County was not... DANG! Anyway, found out more about Cherokee "connection", though Bedford County is MORE Monacan Nation, with a HUGE burial mound in Montvale (seen it).

Champ d'Asile. I wonder who these people really were? Where did they come from and what were they really hoping to establish? I also wonder how much advanced planning was involved, and what the cost and continued financial maintenance and financial support of this expedition might have been? And then, after all of this, why did they really just up an quit? Seems odd that so many high ranking and experienced military images would have so easily deserted something so important to, not only them, but to others as well?
