Back in 1994. . .

After saving our loose change for awhile. I wanted to start collecting half-dollars. So, I go to the bank and ask to get my change back in as much half-dollars as I could get. I got 2 & a half rolls back. I get home, tear them open and WOW!!. . . 1 roll was all silver and the other roll was almost full too.

So were you a good boy and stashed your silver or did you spend it on arcades and baseball cards?

Funny you should say that. Back in 94, I was 24 yrs old and was starting to collect football cards. I actually got in a financial bind and sold the coins for extra cash. I should have stashed them considering the price of silver these days. I just couldn't believe that I got a roll & a half of silver half-dollars that day.

Yes but did you get or keep any good cards? I'm a cardboard addict myself..

I saved all my cards from Upper Deck Collectors Choice. I have alot of the greats from the 80s & 90s. Like Favre, Marino, Elway, etc. Even have rookie cards of Marshal Faulk & Emmit Smith. Tons of complete sets also.

One of my biggest regrets in life was selling my great grandmothers entire coin collection that she gave me at 10 years old for my birthday :BangHead:... I don't even remember what was in there.. I do however remember the coin shop being ecstatic when i brought in the coins.. I most likely got ripped off, because i know i didn't get a lot of money.. she had been collecting her entire life as well.. Of course I spent the money on firecrackers, candy and fishing gear.. Jeeze I wish I knew what i gave those guys.. she was 98 years old when she gave them to me.. there had to be at least one seated and a few barbers in there.. Oh well.. When I give coins to my grandkids one day, you will be sure the parents wont let those kids sell them..

Giving a collection to a kid is NEVER a good idea.

A few coins - a start to their collection is great.
