it really looks like a bug. I'm not sure how old the bug is.

I'm amazed at how well the bug is preserved in this what I think is called agate. I've only seen them like this in Amber.

I wanted to add (and I don't mean anything by it) it's not a Maryland piece. Not that it matters. Didn't someone post what they thought it was- and it wasn't a fossil (maybe that it wasn't an animal)? Was it Gunsil? He works with that sort of rock all the time making jewelry. There was a name for what this is and I can't remember. Very cool looking regardless ;) Dendrite. That's what he said. I didn't realize this was a x2 post.

Gotcha. Sometimes folks associate a thing someone posts w/ the location on their profile. Wasn't implying anything. It's a beautiful piece regardless.
