I used a little Santa type theme in my title because my Tuesday hunt with Ironhorse felt like Christmas compared to what we expected. It was sites we haven't hit for 5-15 years and it did not disappoint, at least in the numbers of targets we were able to dig. I was on a mission to find an old military button and was picky in the beginning as we were in a pretty good area, but once I got past 20 and then 30, and then 40, I was willing to take even the most common mil. button in any condition and call it success! I ended the day at 58 buttons with nothing but a silver plated flower & hunting scene Sportman's, but what I didn't realize is I was having a pretty damn good coin day in the process! So that was that, got up the next day and before throwing the buttons in with the rest of my plain ones I did a closer inspection of each and whatta ya know! I see a starburst edge type pattern and realize it's not a backmark and I do recognize it for what it is... a British 7th Regiment of Foot officer's button (Royal Fusiliers)
They fought in the War of 1812 at Orleans, Fort Bowyer & Mobile.
PS: I should have also been checking my title spelling twice.
