Always happy to find an intact opium tin lid. The sheet brass is so brittle that I usually just find pieces.

Found this one the other day and I'm wondering if anyone can identify the brand. Also, I thought these came in standard sizes. This one is a little smaller than others I've found. I've included a picture of this new find relative to some others that are relatively intact that I've found in the past for size comparison. Any ideas?

By the way, I soaked my others in olive oil for weeks. My new one has been in olive oil for just one day.

What did the opium look like in there when they used it? I thought opium looked like a ball of tar. Does the thing fold open? I've never seen or heard of these tins before. Gary

Very cool find, I'd think you'd be an expert on these by now with the amount you've already found. :laughing7:
Hope you get the info you're looking for.
