At my favorite soccer complex yesterday, hitting the "Frisbee Golf" course, I was locating around the 16th "tee." I found a silver ring that raised a number of questions. Has anyone here ever seen chrome plated silver? Odd, I know, but, I can't determine what else may cause the following symptoms of flaking:
***I highlighted the maker's mark that shows GNA OG, with 925 and an 'M' inside a diamond shape below that. To the right is a highlight of the plating flaking off!***

This picture was taken with the camera set on macro:

This picture (cropped) was shot with the same camera through my jeweler's loupe!........worked like a champ, just have to hold the loupe over the lens and move the camera and loupe in and out together to get the focus:

If you have a digital camera and a jeweler's loupe, give it a try.........it worked for me!!

Well poopybutt. I thought I had come up with a new idea. Oh well, I'll take this opportunity to inform those that are not aware of the method! :icon_thumleft:

The ring is an obvious 'cheapo.' But, it is marked as silver and any silver is good!!

Re: Chrome plated silver...probably

rhodium plated not chrome. nice find as rhodium is is expensive! google rhodium plated sterling silver and see how many hits you get!

i never thought of that, thanks i'll give it a try.

I've hit the 3 courses we have here in town and haven't gotten much more than just trash. You did good
