I found this on the central California coast off the cliffs near granite boulders that had three holes cut out on top that were worked by the native Chumash.
To me it looks like a tool for some kind of food prep.
It has a lot of little cuts on the rock that go in all different directions as well as a very polished point of the cutting edge.
And has the color of blood and fire on it.
It fits the hand very well and is approximately 4" long.
It looks as if a piece was flaked off for a point

I tried to upload enough photos to showcase this remarkable tool.

Thanks for looking! Comments more than welcome!
Best of luck out there!

I know the area around there quite well. It looks like it could be a broken up mano. In that area are also a LOT of natural rocks that are worn, and look very man made. I am no expert on native stuff though.

Might check with Bowers Museum located in Santa Ana...have an extensive collection of Chumash relics, in the various rooms and also in the courtyard...

Many of the Chumash relics were well carved, as you will find displayed there...

Cuts in your rock and polish looks all natural to me as well as the fractures. If it was used as a tool I don't think there'd be any way to prove it, just my thoughts.

Sorry, but it looks like a natural formed rock to me.

It looks to have all natural breaks to me an also it looks to be small for a food prep tool. JMO

Love the patina. If it was a tool, nature smashed it.

It looks to have alternating flakes removed on the working side, see pics 6 and 11. That sort of zig zag line makes me think crude chopper
