i am new to this site and metal detecting in general. i was wandering if anyone could give me some advise on supertuning my new tesoro cibola. i have tried it to get maximum depth and it chatters and gives false signals so bad i don't know where to begin. is there something i need to be doing other than just cranking the threshold and sensitivity up or are the areas i have tried just too trashy? any advise would be appreciated. great site.

I've heard of it, but don't know much about it, but any detector you run hot will chatter and give false signals. It's something you have to work your way up to, and there's always a limit before it makes too much noise and defeats the purpose.

jarhead93 ,

I'm going to skip over the first part of your question about supertuning your new Cibola. Maximum depth is maximum depth for your hunting conditions. In other words the Cibola is capable of having TOO MUCH power for your conditions. Especially with a new detector ,you should be be hunting with the sensitivity only about a third of the way up and forget about "supertuning". If you normally hunt in trashy sites you should think about using a smaller coil such as a 5.75" concentric to minimize bridging of multiple targets. Joe

thanks for the info guys, guess i shouldn't get ahead of myself.
