What's the story behind it?

I would love to know. I live in Amelia County Va. They fought through the place i found it. Its been hunted alot over the years but i also found a eagle breast plate a while back.

Im gonna try electrolysis and coat it with a thin layer of wax. Electrolysis has worked good on other iron relics.
