I was in the attic going through boxes of old books I bought at a rummage sale a few years back , I pulled out this one , it is dated 1888 . I has fold-out maps . The neat thing about it is the prior owner - Thomas Worcester Hyde . He was a CW Brigadier General , a Maine State Senator , and the founder of Bath Iron Works . Kind of ups the coolness factor .

Wow that is a sweet find. I see Mr. T.W. Hyde was a Medal of Honor recipient as well. The book looks like it is in decent shape too. :icon_thumleft:

Doesn't just up the coolness factor, it creates a spotlight on it. Nice find!!!

I have an illustrated Doctors book from the civil war Specifically on the study of how to amputate limbs due to mini ball injuries. Its fascinating how primitive it was back then. Any of us with the stomach for it could have been a doctor!

Very nice find. Hyde was there when Gen Sedgwick was killed in Spottsylvania by a rebel sharpshooter.

Great provenance on these! It doesn’t get much better than that.

Whoa, that's really cool.
