Found my first bullet find today. Can anyone help identify?

Looks like a .30 or so caliber and it is not old enough to be civil war era. Keep looking they're out there...d2

Agreed. Your bullet has vertical lines in the grooves. They didn't do that till after the CW. Good luck

Agree with d2.that band of vertical serrations is called a crimping cannelure which post dates the Civil War by several decades.It is a revolver(probably) or rifle bullet as semi automated handgun bullets are smooth because they use a taper crimping versus a roll crimp or neck crimping die.
