civil war chain ?

does anyone know what this is or what it went to is it civil war era ? dug in spotsylvania va just outside of fredericksburg va thanks for any help

Just an opinion I'm no expert ...just another digger, in Fredericksburg I might add..but it looks Post War. The books I have show the " U.S." bit being different,and from all the chains I've dug in the past ,that also seems to be more modern but dont hold to me I could be wrong.

also looks like something is missing from the end where the us is possibly a key maybe something broke off
