Dug this Universitat Alabam button today in the same field i have been digging some 3 ringers and burnsides.

I found it in Tices book, but not in Alberts.
Was hoping to get a little more info on it, such as date and rarity.
As of this moment i cannot make a clear back mark.
All i can say is the only backmark i could find in Tices book for this button is * YOUNG . SMITH & C0. * NEW YORK
Its page 249 ABS280A1 in Tices book.

Here is original post with other relics dug.

So far ive found out this button is a very rare and early/pre Alabama Corps of Cadets button. (U of A).
I believe its a pre-war Military Corps of Cadets Button from the University of Alabama.
Pre-dating the ACC button.

Also added a few more pics showing the emergence of the YOUNG. SMITH & Co. backmark.

That is a nice one. You will probably find more. Great work on that button.
