Done a little hunting yesterday, not to bad of a day. We hunted for about an hour and a half. I found my first teardrop pistol bullet. It was miscast so ,I would assume they just through it down. I found several melted bullets ,a spencer casing, and some rivets. I did find neat item,it was a navy anchor stamped on the rivet, well not really stamped it is raised off the surface. Has any one found or seen any like these? This is the first one I have seen or for that matter heard of. I would like to think one of those soldiers had some kind of navy accouterment or something of that nature. I am amazed that they would stamp something like a rivet. Thanks for looking. Jonathon

Nice group of find's....What kind of site do you think it was?

The site was part of the Battle of Resaca, which was the first major battle of the Atlanta Campaign. I believe they were camping a little in the area that these was found.

being a rivet that big I would be inclined to think of a Naval sword belt...there are a few giant rivets in a sword belt/hanger set-up and that could be the path that one came from...possibly. nice finds.

Super finds, John! 8)

Nice finds. Hope you find more.

Are you from around Resaca?? I'm from Tunnel Hill. I reenact the battle every year down in Resaca. I aint ever had the chance to metal detect down there cause I aint been able to chase down a place to go yet. I do hear about alot of relics still comming out of the area though.

Hey Jonathen...I was just looking at some map's and came across a map of the Resaca Battle(May 13-16,1864) Look's like Calhoun Ferry Rd and the T at Resaca Rd. were hammered.....Are you anywhere near there?

civilman1 I am fairly close to that area. I use to have permission to hunt some of that area, but the old man died and his son took over. There are still a bunch of trench's on that property. The property we are hunting now also has some trech's on it.
