civil war fuse?

Found this while raking my yard. I thought it looked a lot like a civil war cannon ball fuse, but wasn't sure. I live in Inman Park in Atlanta, GA near where a lot of artillery fire took place. Can anyone help identify this?

CannonBallGuy can ID this for you, but it is identical to a BRASS fuse in the end of an unexploded Hodgekiss shell I have. I'm betting it IS. Post this in the "What Is It" section of this site, and provide some scale, measurements, different photo angles etc. CB guy trolls that section and answers tons of artillary questions.
