Civil war ? Or junk ?

Could you help me figurebout if this is a rosette from the Civil War period or if it is a more modern horse adornment. Thanks.

I would say it's a medallion that went on a horse bridle or saddle and comes from the 1860's. You can see the bits of leather on the tangs. Nice find!

It may or may not be Civil War, but it's not modern, and it is military. Just because it may not be Civil War, does not mean its junk. It is a great military relic. I have a rosette similar to yours, but not exact, from WW1 that I found in a field.

Similar type of attachment that went on the horse but the letters are not a match, which I'm pretty sure dates them.
