I dug this buckle in a Civil War Campsite on Saturday. I believe it may be a civilian buckle of some sort. The buckle measures approximately 2 1/4" X 2 1/2". Any help ID'ing it would be greatly appreciated. The site I dug it from is a Civil War period Infantry campsite on top of a War of 1812 period campsite. Thanks,

I think you're right on the ID. Civilian ladies' sash buckle.
